Junaid Ahmed
U.S. House (Democratic–IL–8)
“I’ve spent my life rolling up my sleeves—volunteering after natural disasters, distributing food to families in need, organizing, and fighting corporate greed. This community welcomed my family and lifted us up. I’ll never forget that,” said Junaid Ahmed. “It’s time we turn the page on the special interests who put profit over people. It’s time we send a progressive fighter to Washington.”
As an immigrant, Junaid’s dad worked multiple jobs to provide a better life for his family. Junaid started at community college, then transferred to DePaul University, where he studied computer science, and eventually earned an MBA from the University of Chicago. Junaid embarked on a successful tech career before launching his own tech firm.
Junaid, his wife, and their four children call Barrington home, where their children attend local public schools. They can be found on weekends volunteering at local soup kitchens and delivering meals to the unhoused through an organization Junaid helped establish called Chi-Cares.
Junaid is running for Congress to fight for the progressive values his parents instilled in him. Guided by his decades of service to his community, Junaid will fight to ensure the working families of the 8th Congressional District can thrive. Junaid believes:
- All of our children deserve quality public education and relief from the crushing burden of student loan debt.
- Healthcare is a human right and every American deserves access to quality, affordable care.
- Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and the government should help entrepreneurs start small businesses instead of standing in their way.
- Workers deserve a livable wage, safe working conditions, and paid leave, and he will always stand with workers in those fights.
- The climate emergency is real, and we must seize this moment to build our clean energy economy.
- Politicians should work for you, not billionaires and corporations and he will fight for policies that limit corporate influence in politics.
All of these values are under attack by Donald Trump. His administration is dismantling the Department of Education, slashing Medicaid, and gutting the services working families rely on, all to give the wealthy a tax break. Junaid is ready to go to Congress to take on Trump and fight for working families, never wealthy corporations. Junaid will not accept corporate PAC money for his campaign.
